10 Healthy Eating Travel Tips

(NaturalNews) Whether you are planning a “stay-cation” or an elaborate vacation to a exotic foreign land, eating away from home always presents a few obstacles. Maintaining your at-home healthy eating habits and avoiding the pitfalls travelers often face, can be a challenge. Preplanning is the key, which can mean the difference between completely abandoning your healthy lifestyle or keeping you on track. Incorporate some or all the following tips to insure you have a healthy, happy, trip.

Pack a healthy eating kit – A small cutting board, pairing knife, collapsible cooler, utensils, zip-lock baggies, a few spices, a small container of dish detergent, and a bowl with a lid. The bowl can be used for snacks, salads, or soups. The lid can be used as a plate and both can be used to store leftovers. If you are flying, pack the pairing knife in your checked luggage and make sure the spices are in their original containers.

High powered blender – With a high powered blender such as a Vitamix, travelers can easily whip up healthy and nutritious smoothies, warm soups, and fresh salad dressings.

Locate a hotel with a kitchenette or refrigerator – Check ahead to see if your hotel has a kitchenette where you can prepare your own meals or at least a small refrigerator. Numerous hotel chains will offer to put a mini refrigerator in your room for a nominal fee or many times for free if it is for medical reasons.

Restaurants – If possible, use some of the apps or websites that are readily available such as urbanspoon.com or HappyCow.com to search ahead of time for healthy dining options. Once at the restaurant, scan the menu throughly then order items that are the least processed and always stay clear of items that have been fried or are laden with fat. Be mindful of portion sizes and avoid overeating.

Pit-stops -During long road trips, travelers often need to fill their gas tanks and also their stomachs. Truck stops and convenience stores are starting to add fresh fruits to their inventory so instead of reaching for a processed snack grab a banana, apple, or a bag of unsalted nuts instead.

Plan for possible delays – Whether traveling by car, plane, boat, bus, or train, assume there are going to be delays and plan accordingly. You are more likely to make smart food choices when you pack snacks such as energy bars, fresh and dried fruits, nuts and seeds, and pre-cut vegetables.

Stay hydrated – Drink plenty of water or coconut water, which will replace electrolytes. Humidity on fights is low so continually drink water to stay hydrated. It is best to take small sips throughout the day instead of trying to gulp down a large bottle at one time. Drink more than usual if you are sweating or in the hot sun. Since alcohol is a diuretic, alcoholic beverages should be avoided.

Flying – Unless you are certain there are healthy options at the airport, plan to carry-on your own food. Nut butters and hummus are great items to keep hunger at bay. However, it is best to make a sandwich or wrap ahead of time with the nut butter or hummus since both will most likely be confiscated when going through security. In some airports, containers of nut butter or hummus are considered liquids and may exceed the maximum liquid limit.

Cruises – Typically all meals are included on cruises. However, if you are traveling with special dietary restrictions, it is best to notify your travel agent or cruise line at the time of booking. Most cruise lines are extremely accommodating with advance notice and will many times assign you with a special dining employee to make sure all your dietary needs are to your satisfaction.

All-inclusives resorts – These resorts are becoming very popular in the Caribbean and Mexico. All-inclusive resorts are very similar to cruises where all meals are included. The resorts are very accommodating with advance notice. Many have huge buffets that offer a variety of vegetarian, gluten-free, sugar-free, and even made to order smoothies with all fresh ingredients. Typically, either the resort chef or a member of his/her team will meet with guests who have dietary restrictions to insure all their needs are met during their stay.

Almost one in ten employers to drop medical health insurance coverage under Obamacare

(NaturalNews) One of the elements of Obamacare critics have been most vocal about is the so-called government-sponsored “insurance pools” the law creates. Now that it’s largely been upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court, these pools will soon become a reality.

So what- That’s the basis of the law, to provide insurance for everyone, correct-

Yes, but not necessarily the type of insurance you want. Or that you have now, say, through your employer.

One of the law’s selling points uttered by everyone in the administration paid to defend it, especially the president himself, promised Americans they could keep their current health insurance.

In his Weekly Address on August 15, 2009, Obama said of his health care proposal, “First, no matter what you’ve heard, if you like your doctor or healthcare plan, you can keep it.”

That was then. By July 2012, the administration was singing a different tune, admitting that, “as a practical matter, a majority of group health plans will lose their grandfather status by 2013.”

That includes, of course, that employer plan you love so much.

Wait – Weren’t you supposed to be able to keep employer insurance-

The Federal Register, dated Thursday, June 17, 2010, notes that the “mid-range estimate is that 66 percent of small employer plans and 45 percent of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfather status by the end of 2013.”

Essentially, the administration put employer health plans in a box. As the Heritage Foundation explains, if employers “make changes to their plans to control increasing costs, they will lose their grandfathered status. Alternatively, if they keep grandfathered status by not making changes, their plans will eventually become unaffordable, forcing them to give them up. Either way, their employees will eventually lose their current coverage.”

That is, in fact, already happening.

According to consulting company Deloitte, one in ten employers have said they will drop health coverage when key elements of the high court-upheld law take effect in fewer than two years.

In a report by The Wall Street Journal, nine percent of companies expect to drop coverage within one to three years. 10 percent weren’t sure. And while 81 percent said they would continue to offer health insurance benefits, remember that many companies a) may still be planning on a repeal of the law if enough Obamacare critics are elected to Congress; and b) have yet to see the exact costs of offering that coverage (remember Nancy Pelosi’s now infamous line: “We have to pass the bill to see what’s in it.”).

According to Deloitte, one in three employers said they could stop offering coverage if the law requires them to provide more generous benefits than they already do, if taxes on high-cost plans kick in around 2018, as they are currently scheduled to do, or if they decide it would be cheaper for them to pay the penalty (or is it a tax-) for not providing health insurance.

Small businesses won’t be fined, but those with 50 or more employees will have to pay $2,000 for each one if they don’t provide them with coverage.

The bottom line is this: Obamacare, by its very design, aims to diminish private-sector health coverage so as to channel you into a government-run system.

Gaggle of ‘penalties,’ taxes

Overall, health care costs, even the most optimistic analysts note, are not likely to decrease much because of the so-called Affordable Care Act. Many, in fact, expect costs to continue to rise. And while the government’s portion may fall, yours won’t.

In fact, the Congressional Budget Office’s calculations found:

– The “penalty payments by uninsured individuals” (which Chief Justice John Roberts called a “tax”) will cost citizens $55 billion a year

– The “additional hospital insurance tax” is the largest increase – $318 billion annually

– Another $216 billion from something called the “associated effects of coverage provisions on tax revenues”

– A “reinsurance and risk adjustment collections” provision brings in another $184 billion

– Fees on certain manufacturers and insurers generates another $165 billion

– A tax on high-excise insurance plans reaps an additional $111 billion

All told, this one law confiscates a trillion dollars from the private sector, to feed the Leviathan and implement one more step in the “cradle-to-grave” approach of controlling your – and your kids’ – lives.

How To Maintain A Fitness Plan

No matter whether you just want to lose a few pounds for a wedding, or make a total body transformation, you need to know about fitness. Most individuals are clueless about the best way to get fit; this article will provide you with all the tips and information that you need to get on the right road.

Scheduling yourself for a daily dose of exercise is a great way to improve your fitness. This way you can burn more calories in the same amount of time. Your exercise is more likely to become routine this way. Fitness exercises should be done daily; however, your body does need rest. On your resting days, try doing light exercises such as swimming or walking.

You can substantially boost your fitness level by walking. Walking heel to toe starts that involves pushing your heels first and toes last can boost your calves’ efforts. You should also work out the arms by only flexing at the elbow.

Do you think that you are too busy to stay fit? Split up your workout. You do not have to increase the amount of time you are working out, just divide it in two. If you cut your work out into half, do the first session early in the day and the second half in the evening. If you break your work out into 3 sessions, do the middle session near lunch time. With two smaller workouts, you also have the flexibility to do one in the gym and one outside or at home.

TIP! ‘Just do it’ is not only Nike’s motto, it is the motto of anyone who seriously wants to lose weight. It is equally great if you just want to get into shape.

Grow your own garden. Gardens aren’t a joke, they require a lot of effort and labor. It involves weeding, digging and squatting a lot. Gardening is only one hobby you can take up to stay in shape.

Strength Training

Your strength training frequency will depend on what you want to get out your training routine. Training less often will let you achieve larger, stronger muscles. If your fitness goal is to get leaner, more defined muscles, you should have more strength training sessions.

Words matter, so avoid using the words “exercise” or “workout” to describe exercising. Words can have a lot of emotions behind them, and if, for you, words like this are negative, you may be slowing yourself down. The best way to get around this is to refer to the exercise you are doing by its actual name, such as swimming or skiing.

TIP! Build strength by lifting lighter weights more quickly. Your muscles will work just as hard this way.

Try counting in revers order when doing repetitions. Rather than counting upwards when tallying repetitions, count backwards from the intended total. This helps to shorten your workouts and makes them simpler as you are now thinking in smaller amounts. Seeing your numbers dwindle down to zero is a great motivator.

A kickboxing class is a great way to get fit. Anyone who does an hour of kickboxing and doesn’t think, “that was exhausting” is doing it wrong. Kickboxing is great not only for burning boatloads of calories but improving strength, as well.

If you’re a tennis player, trying training your eyes so that they focus quicker. If you start out close to the net it will make you react quicker to the ball. In addition, this greatly improves your reaction times.

Milk is a great post-workout beverage. This dairy supplement can give you the proper amount of protein. Milk is usually used for baby animals and contains many essential fats and proteins a baby animal needs for proper growth and development. The nutrients in milk are beneficial to helping you develop body mass.

TIP! As you target your biceps, bend your wrists to improve your workout. You should bend the wrists back and do the bicep curl this way.

Shop in the evening when looking for shoes to wear when working out. Your feet tend to swell later in the day, so waiting until this time helps to ensure that you always have ample room in your footwear.

Avoid spending too much time working a single side of your body or a single muscle group. Some people may be of the opinion that working certain muscles or a certain area of the body will provide good results. But what you could, in fact, end up doing is causing too much strain on that part of the body, and there will be no results from doing this.

Vary your exercise activities so you can get the best results. If someone typically runs on a treadmill, for instance, he or she can change it up by jogging around the neighborhood. You will have more of a workout because you are not running on a flat surface. Variety helps with results.

You must ice the area in which you develop a muscle sprain. The cold will alleviate swelling and redness. Be sure you elevate the area so that blood can continue to flow correctly. It is important that you wrap the ice in a towel so it doesn’t come in direct contact with your skin.

TIP! When you set a goal to increase your fitness level, check with your family physician first. Your physician’s opinion can be vital, especially if getting healthy is going to be especially challenging for you.

Jogging is a great way to build up stamina as you exercise. Begin slowly and build up the amount of time you jog weekly. Try to keep your heart rate at around 75% of your max, which is typically 120 to 150 beats per minute depending upon your age.

Simple push-ups can actually tone your triceps. Try doing a push up with your hands turned in forty five degrees. Doing this targeted exercise can tone and strengthen those difficult to reach triceps like few other exercises can.

The benefits of fitness reach far beyond the physical benefits. Regular exercise can also bring emotional benefits. Working out releases endorphins creating a sense of euphoria. Working out also enhances your self-image and your confidence. You are technically a few workouts shy of happiness.

Seek the advise of a dietitian to develop your diet. You can eliminate bad foods easily, but how will working out affect your diet? Dietitians can help you make the best choices.

TIP! Set up your workout so that you exercise your weaker body parts at the beginning of the routine. Because you have more energy and focus at the beginning of your workout, your weakest areas will benefit the most; saving them for last, on the other hand, may mean skimping on effort and energy.

Do not train heavily in the early stages of your fitness program. Taking the time to learn how to do the exercise properly, including form and breathing, will pay dividends later. Good form means you are going to get a good workout anyway, so try to practice good form as much as possible.

An important fitness tip is to never exercise when you are sick. When you are sick, your body tries to use everything it has to heal itself. This will prevent it from building up endurance and muscle at this time. Therefore, you should take a break from exercising until you are well. In the meantime, eat well, and get lots of sleep.

Now that you’ve reached the end of this article, you are prepared to take the steps necessary to achieve fitness. If you stay motivated, you will succeed. You will quickly experience the benefits that can last you through the rest of your life.

Are you trying to lose weight? A jump rope is a great idea! No matter where you are, jump ropes are perfect tools for exercising each and every day. One minute of jumping rope burns the calories equal to three minutes of other common cardiovascular forms of exercise. Jump roping will give you the maximum cardio workout.

TIP! Here’s a simple exercise to help you improve your agility. Lift up your left foot and tap it using your right hand, then lower it.

Aurora, Phase 2: Dr. Lynne Fenton, the Batman killer, the medication and the drug money

(NaturalNews) People don’t get it. The media don’t get it and they don’t want to get it. Billions of dollars are riding on the drugs Dr. Lynne Fenton may have prescribed to her patient, James Holmes, the accused Batman shooter.

And when billions of dollars in potentially lost revenue are hanging in the balance, the interested parties take action. They’re serious about their money. They don’t screw around.

You see, if James Holmes was, for example, taking Prozac, all of a sudden no one wants to take it. If doctors prescribe it to patients, the patients say, “Hey, wasn’t this the drug that nutcase took before he killed all those people in the theater-”

And that’s not all. Congress holds hearings, not because they want to, but because they want to look like they’re doing the right thing. And at those hearings, all sorts of nasty stuff comes out about Prozac. It’s big news. The studies that showed the drug was dangerous, that it could and would cause people to commit suicide and homicide. Boom. More bad press for the manufacturer. More investigations. More lost revenue.

So right now, in Aurora, there are pharmaceutical people on the scene. Not just low-level goofballs, but competent investigators. They want to know what drugs James Holmes was prescribed. They need to know. And behind the scenes, people with clout are making phone calls. These pharma types are talking to government agents and it’s crazy time and damage-control time, and nobody is laughing. This is a high-stakes game. WHAT DRUGS WAS HOLMES TAKING-

There is pressure on both attorneys in the case, too. And the cops. With an insanity plea lurking in the wings, Holmes’ medical records could very well see the light of day. That would let everybody know what the drugs were. So somebody is calling the governor of Colorado, and other state officials, and they’re trying to maneuver and manipulate the legal process, to make the medical records vanish.

Come on. This isn’t just a murder case. Now it’s about money. Big pharma lawyers are reading up on Colorado law to find loopholes, ways to get around revealing Holmes’ medical history.

Holmes is now a pawn. He’s the nowhere kid who is going to be shuttled around on the game board to save the drug money for the people who own it.

The money is dirty. It always was. It’s filthy. It’s been made on the backs of people who have died at the rate of 100,000 a year in the US alone. That’s a million people per decade—pharmaceutically caused deaths. The heads of these drug companies and their allied banks are Mafiosa. They inflict more human damage in a day than all the goombahs who have ever shot up pizza joints on Mulberry Street or dealt narcotics to addicts across the world, since Sicily puts itself on the map as the center of the Cosa Nostra.

http://jonrappoport.wordpress.com they could get to Holmes in his cell, they’d erase him. They’d make it look like a suicide. Today. What do you think “lone shooter” is all about- Yes, the covert op that very well may have used Holmes as the patsy, to push the government into banning guns, is a major piece here. But that work is done. Now it’s “lone shooter” because getting rid of Holmes by killing him or warehousing him for the rest of his life in a mental prison, with brain-hammer drugs making him into a vegetable, means that the names of the psychiatric drugs he was taking before the massacre will be lost to history, and no one will take the criminal investigation any further.

Update: Holmes’ psychiatrist, Lynne Fenton, was reprimanded by the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners, in 2005, for prescribing drugs to several patients, including herself, without entering the information in patient records. She could now find a target painted on her back, as the drug companies try to make her a patsy, an “irresponsible and incompetent doctor who didn’t give Mr. Holmes what he truly needed.” They would do this to take the drugs off the hook. “In the hands of a good psychiatrist, the proper medications would have worked well.” Who knows- Maybe they’ll claim she didn’t even treat Holmes directly, but supervised interns or grad students, who actually worked with Holmes.

I wrote the following as part of a 1999 white paper for The Truth Seeker Foundation, in the wake of the Columbine massacre. So the information is from that period. The white paper was titled: WHY DID THEY DO IT- THE SCHOOL SHOOTINGS ACROSS AMERICA.

It’s quite long; I’ve only printed an excerpt here. You can go to my blog and read the whole thing. It’s very relevant to the issues at hand.

http://jonrappoport.wordpress.com

The bulk of American media is afraid to go after psychiatric drugs as a cause of violence. This fear stems, in part, from the sure knowledge that expert attack dogs are waiting in the wings, funded by big-time pharmaceutical companies.

There are doctors and researchers as well who have seen a dark truth about these drugs in the journals, but are afraid to stand up and speak out. After all, the medical culture punishes no one as severely as its own defectors.

And what of the federal government itself- The FDA licenses every drug released for public use and certifies that it is safe and effective. If a real tornado started at the public level, if the mothers of the young killers and young victims began to see a terrible knowledge about the psychiatric drugs swim into view, a knowledge they hadn’t imagined, and if THEY joined forces, the earth would shake.

After commenting on some of the adverse effects of the antidepressant drug Prozac, psychiatrist Peter Breggin notes, “From the initial studies, it was also apparent that a small percentage of Prozac patients became psychotic.”

Prozac, in fact, endured a rocky road in the press for a time. Stories on it rarely appear now. The major media have backed off. But on February 7th, 1991, Amy Marcus’ Wall Street Journal article on the drug carried the headline, “Murder Trials Introduce Prozac Defense.” She wrote, “A spate of murder trials in which defendants claim they became violent when they took the antidepressant Prozac are imposing new problems for the drug’s maker, Eli Lilly and Co.”

Also on February 7, 1991, the New York Times ran a Prozac piece headlined, “Suicidal Behavior Tied Again to Drug: Does Antidepressant Prompt Violence-”

In his landmark book, Toxic Psychiatry, Dr. Breggin mentions that the Donahue show (Feb. 28, 1991) “put together a group of individuals who had become compulsively self-destructive and murderous after taking Prozac and the clamorous telephone and audience response confirmed the problem.”

Breggin also cites a troubling study from the February 1990 American Journal of Psychiatry (Teicher et al, v.147:207-210) which reports on “six depressed patients, previously free of recent suicidal ideation, who developed intense, violent suicidal preoccupations after 2-7 weeks of fluoxetine [Prozac] treatment.’ The suicidal preoccupations lasted from three days to three months after termination of the treatment. The report estimates that 3.5 percent of Prozac users were at risk. While denying the validity of the study, Dista Products, a division of Eli Lilly, put out a brochure for doctors dated August 31, 1990, stating that it was adding ‘suicidal ideation’ to the adverse events section of its Prozac product information.”

An earlier study, from the September 1989 Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, by Joseph Lipiniski, Jr., indicates that, in five examined cases, people on Prozac developed what is called akathisia. Symptoms include intense anxiety, inability to sleep, the “jerking of extremities,” and “bicycling in bed or just turning around and around.” Breggin comments that akathisia “may also contribute to the drug’s tendency to cause self-destructive or violent tendencies … Akathisia can become the equivalent of biochemical torture and could possibly tip someone over the edge into self-destructive or violent behavior … The June 1990 Health Newsletter, produced by the Public Citizen Research Group, reports, ‘Akathisia, or symptoms of restlessness, constant pacing, and purposeless movements of the feet and legs, may occur in 10-25 percent of patients on Prozac.’”

The well-known publication, California Lawyer, in a December 1998 article called “Protecting Prozac,” mentions other highly qualified critics of the drug: “David Healy, MD, an internationally renowned psychopharmacologist, has stated in sworn deposition that ‘contrary to Lilly’s view, there is a plausible cause-and-effect relationship between Prozac’ and suicidal-homicidal events. An epidemiological study published in 1995 by the British Medical Journal also links Prozac to increased suicide risk.”

When pressed, proponents of these SSRI drugs sometimes say, “Well, the benefits for the general population far outweigh the risk,” or, “Maybe in one or two tragic cases the dosage prescribed was too high.” But the problem will not go away on that basis. A shocking review-study published in The Journal of Nervous and Mental Diseases (1996, v.184, no.2), written by Rhoda L. Fisher and Seymour Fisher, called “Antidepressants for Children,” concludes: “Despite unanimous literature of double-blind studies indicating that antidepressants are no more effective than placebos in treating depression in children and adolescents, such medications continue to be in wide use.”

In wide use. This despite such contrary information and the negative, dangerous effects of these drugs.

There are other studies: “Emergence of self-destructive phenomena in children and adolescents during fluoxetine treatment,” published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (1991, vol.30), written by RA King, RA Riddle, et al. It reports self-destructive phenomena in 14% (6/42) of children and adolescents (10-17 years old) who had treatment with fluoxetine (Prozac) for obsessive-compulsive disorder.

July, 1991. Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Hisako Koizumi, MD, describes a thirteen-year-old boy who was on Prozac: “full of energy,” “hyperactive,” “clown-like.” All this devolved into sudden violent actions which were “totally unlike him.” [Sound like James Holmes-]

September, 1991. The Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Author Laurence Jerome reports the case of a ten-year old who moves with his family to a new location. Becoming depressed, the boy is put on Prozac by a doctor. The boy is then “hyperactive, agitated … irritable.” He makes a “somewhat grandiose assessment of his own abilities.” Then he calls a stranger on the phone and says he is going to kill him. The Prozac is stopped, and the symptoms disappear.

[What is true about Prozac is true about Paxil or Zoloft or any of the other SSRI antidepressants. And be warned: suddenly withdrawing from any psychiatric drug can be extremely dangerous to the patient. See www.breggin.com on this subject and how to handle it.]

Ritalin, manufactured by Novartis, is the close cousin to speed which is given to millions of American schoolchildren for a condition called Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). ADD and ADHD, for which no organic causes have ever been found, are touted as disease-conditions that afflict the young, causing hyperactivity, unmanageability, and learning problems. Of course, when you name a disorder or a syndrome and yet can find no single provable organic cause for it, you have nothing more than a loose collection of behaviors with an arbitrary title.

Correction: you also have a pharmaceutical bonanza.

Dr. Breggin, referring to an official directory of psychiatric disorders, the DSM-III-R, writes that withdrawal from amphetamine-type drugs, including Ritalin, can cause “depression, anxiety, and irritability as well as sleep problems, fatigue, and agitation.” Breggin then remarks, “The individual may become suicidal in response to the depression.”

The well-known Goodman and Gilman’s The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics reveals a vital fact. It states that Ritalin is “structurally related to amphetamines … Its pharmacological properties are essentially the same as those of the amphetamines.” In other words, the only clear difference is legality. And the effects, in layman’s terms, are obvious. You take speed and, sooner or later, you start crashing. You become agitated, irritable, paranoid, delusional, aggressive.

In Toxic Psychiatry, Dr. Breggin discusses the subject of drug combinations: “Combining antidepressants [e.g., Prozac, Luvox] and psychostimulants [e.g., Ritalin] increases the risk of cardiovascular catastrophe, seizures, sedation, euphoria, and psychosis. Withdrawal from the combination can cause a severe reaction that includes confusion, emotional instability, agitation, and aggression.” Children are frequently medicated with this combination, and when we highlight such effects as aggression, psychosis, and emotional instability, it is obvious that the result is pointing toward the very real possibility of violence.

What does this all add up to- The fantasy evil portrayed in The Dark Knight Rises, and the real evil enacted by the shooters in the Aurora Century theater, has now given way to a more pervasive evil, as the mega-drug companies come to town to protect their money and their bankers and their fabricated reputation.

Stacy Keibler Shares Diet and Fitness Tips with SHAPE Magazine

Stacy Keibler sits down for a chat with SHAPE and shares some of her diet secrets and reveals how she manages to stay fit, even when she travels! From Barry’s Bootcamp to Pilates, she also talks to the magazine about all the different workouts she does to stay slim and sexy.

“Health, fitness and wellness have been a very big part of my life. So, it’s my lifestyle. If I’m not working out, I have to balance it out and eat a little cleaner that day. I eat as organic as I can. I think that portion control is very important, but I also think in everything in moderation. So I’m not the girl who’s gonna tell you that I never have a little bit of dessert or I don’t have a glass of wine,” George Clooney’s girlfriend says.

Speaking about her fitness routine, the 32-year-old actress and model says that, “I get bored easily so I love to switch it up. I will do everything. I will hike, I will run the stairs wherever I am, I will find some outdoor activity to do. I have a trainer. I do Pilates. I like to change it up. I like to work my whole body and also keep my mind stimulated.”

When it comes to workout motivation, Stacy believes that it is important to make fitness a habit. Just like drinking water. “When I’m really busy and I’m working and I can’t get to the gym, like, you start slacking a bit, so you have to really get in that groove.”

What about staying in shape while on the road- The stunning blonde says that she carries “a bag full of bands, Bootcamp DVDs, things that I can modify, that I can do anywhere.”

For Kiebler, moderation is the key. If there is a dessert, “I will have a bite or two but I won’t have the whole thing. It’s about being conscious about what’s going on so you can balance it out the next day.”

The best type of dance for the body- “I think that dance is such a great workout, you burn so many calories and I think it’s a really fun way to work out,” Stacy told SHAPE. For gorgeous, sculpted legs, Stacy recommends squats and lunges.

Take A Look At This Muscle Building Advice

No matter how old you are, building muscle can be a healthy and fun way to build a better body. The information you will find below includes excellent tips on how to optimize your muscle building workouts. Read on to get the facts.

Once you’ve finished working a group of muscles, make sure you stretch those muscles. This will help decrease the time those muscles will take to recover. This will help muscle tissue develop properly, so it is important to do it even if it feels slightly uncomfortable to stretch.

Only plan to do three or four workouts each week. Your muscles need time to recover and grow. When you workout too much, you can make your body overwork itself and not build muscles and get into shape properly, so you won’t get the results you’re seeking.

TIP! Make sure that you eat some food before and after every workout. High-protein snacks are great if you are just getting started.

Combine free weight training with the use of weight-machines in your muscle-building routine. Free weights are generally better for serious bodybuilding. That said, using weight machines is probably a better option if you’re just getting started. Try to include both types of exercises so you can stay flexible.

You should also be sure you intake plenty of protein before you workout. Prior to doing your workout, to have 20 grams of whey protein. Doing so will ensure that your body does not burn through muscle during your fitness routine; it also makes it easier for your existing muscles to recover.

Bicep Curls

Depending on supplements will only let you down over time. Supplements are beneficial to muscle-building efforts. A healthy diet is the best way to give your body the vitamins and minerals it needs, instead of solely relying on these supplements. They are only intended to supplement what you eat, not replace it. The best muscle building programs try to include a very low number of supplements.

TIP! If you wish to bulk up, try to focus on doing bench presses, squatting, and dead lifting. All these exercises will assist you in getting in the best shape as fast as possible and build muscles.

Work on improving your bicep curls. Usually, when doing bicep curls, you don’t get a lot of benefits from the upper portion since it is common to fail to move the weight past the point where it becomes parallel. However, the top of the bicep curl is the most effective part. The solution is to do your barbell bicep curls while seated.

Keep up your cardio regimen. It may seem as though cardio would reduce mass, it is actually an important part of muscle growth in that it strengthens the heart;s ability to cope with the extra load. Working out for twenty minutes, three times a week is good for your heart and will not have an impact on building muscles.

Eat lots of protein when you are trying to gain muscle. Protein is the primary building block in muscle building, and consuming too little could cause your muscles to diminish, making your efforts in bulking up useless. Try to consume up to a gram of protein daily for each pound you weigh.

Make a smart workout schedule. This can help you build muscle while avoiding injury. If you are just a beginner, engage in difficult workouts no more than two times a week; if you have been doing it for a while, you can add an additional day to your rotation.

180 Grams

For stronger muscles and faster results in building muscle mass, increase your protein consumption. Spreading your protein out will be your best bet. For example, if you need 180 grams of protein per day, consuming six meals at thirty grams of protein per meal will get you that 180 grams you need.

When lifting weights, more important than how frequent the workouts, how heavy the weights and how fast it is done, is one simple thing: technique. You should carefully practice every single exercise until you have mastered it. Perfecting one’s form early on with light weights is best, and when more weight is added later, the benefits are maximized.

Resist the urge to work out at warp speed. You will get better results from slowly performing each exercise movement, even when using lighter weights. Try to shoot for 20 seconds for each rep, with 5-10 seconds for each movement within any weight-lifting exercise.

TIP! Keep a journal of your training. Evaluating your progress is essential when muscle building.

Fitness and building muscle can work at any age, which is why it can work for you too! By using the tips presented here, you are ready to start a program that will build muscle, get you into better condition and give you the skills needed for a lifetime of good health and fitness

Amid plagues of radioactivity, listed below are six simple how to choose life

(NaturalNews) Radioactive waters from the Fukushima disaster now buffet the coasts of North America. We have known since 1987 – when in the 8 months following Chernobyl, a 245% to 900% increase in infant mortality was observed in the northern coastal areas of the US – that out-of-control radiation leaks are a proven worldwide problem.

What we also know is immediate crises, such as the radioactivity from Fukushima, only add to the literal sea of continual radiation exposure.

We are exposed to “routine” nuclear medical equipment leaks, checkpoints with full-body scans, nuclear submarine crashes, depleted uranium ammunition fallout, mammograms, CT scans, x-rays, radioactive-contaminated tobacco smoke, microwave ovens, food irradiation accidents, and more.

To share a few examples:

  • Nuclear mishaps and accidents – Over a 15-year study, ending in 1985, there were 151 significant nuclear accidents in 14 western countries with a total of over 2,7000 mishaps at nuclear plants.
  • X-rays - Dr. Alice Stewart, a recognized world authority on nuclear epidemiology, discovered that women exposed to diagnostic X-rays during pregnancy had offspring with two times the likelihood of developing leukemia as did children who had not been exposed in utero.
  • Cigarette smoke – Cigarette smoke contains and gives off the radioactive particles radium 226, which is found in phosphate fertilizers used in commercial tobacco farming; polonium 210, lead 210, which are breakdown products from radium 226; and potassium 40.

Our big picture is not just surviving the immediate Fukushima crisis, but protecting ourselves and our families from the cumulative daily radiation dangers that build up over a long period of time.

My radiation protection approach is built on six principles:

I. Selective uptake

If one has enough minerals in the system, the cells become saturated with healthy minerals. Once cellular mineral saturation occurs, there is less opportunity for radioactive minerals to be absorbed into the system.

II. Chelate

Certain foods actively draw the radioactive materials to them and pull them out of the body via the bowel and kidney excretion process. The kelp family of sea vegetables are highest in the natural chelator, sodium alginate. Work by J.F. Sara at the Environmental Toxicology Laboratory of the EPA, and A. Huag, as reported in The Composition and Properties of Alginates, show that alginates bind other metal pollutants, such as excess barium, lead, plutonium, cesium and cadmium. Use kelp (5-10 tablets) for chelating I-131, anduse dulse for chelating plutonium. Obviously, make sure your sea vegetables come from as safe an ocean source as possible.

III. Increase your antioxidant intake

Keeping the body high in antioxidant nutrients and enzymes will nullify the free radicals created by the radiation exposure.

IV. Specific foods and herbs

  • Increase spirulina and chlorella
  • Increase all leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables
  • Take bee pollen (2 Tbsp, 2 times daily)
  • Increase garlic and onion
  • Use Siberian Ginseng, Panax Ginseng, Chaparral, and Rosemary

V. Eat an organic, plant-sourced only diet for alkalization, and cover your garden

Research in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology in 1980, showed that if the pH of the cellular fluid was slightly more alkaline then it would protect the cells against radiation. An alkalizing diet, which is also a live-food, plant-source diet, is going to serve us best in these times.

Research adopted from the radiological assessment of the Wyhl Nuclear Power Plant by the Department of Environmental Protection, at the University of Heidelberg Germany in 1978, showed that, as a result of air exposure to radiation, cows milk was 15 times more concentrated with radioactive materials, and beef was 30 times more concentrated than leafy green vegetables. Eating lower on the food chain is a logical and scientific approach to dealing with radiation.

Covering your garden with plastic will help catch dust, rain, ocean fog, and other items that may carry radioactivity.

VI. Take political action

Take political action to eliminate all potential sources of radiation exposure such as use of nuclear power plants, DU weaponry, and all nuclear weapons, as well as minimize use of cell phones and cell phone towers, for minimized EMF exposure to the environment. It is significant inspiration that Germany leads with an explicit plan to shut down and phase out all nuclear power plants by 2020.

May we all be protected from future accidents by paying attention to the warnings of God, and give them full attention. May we proceed with great care in radiation diagnostic testing, which is currently overused. May we realize that we are in a time of changes that require action on the physical plane and action on the spiritual plane to improve the quality and meaning of our lives so that we may move from the Culture of Death into the Culture of Life and Liberation in every aspect of our lives. Blessings to your health.

Chavez trumps Obama on teaching people to be healthy

(NaturalNews) Not everything a dictator does is bad, right- That concept might be a hard sell in the United States, of course, where we’re not accustomed to bending to the will and whim of a dictator (though clearly, there are some dictator wannabe’s lurking within our own political system).

Still, you have to wonder if Hugo Chavez, the current dictatorial leader of Venezuela, isn’t ahead of the diet curve when it comes to comparing him to, say, our own president.

In a recent speech to Venezuelans, Chavez urged the people to shun sugary drinks like Pepsi and Coca-Cola and instead drink fruit juice – specifically, a domestically produced brand called Uvita, a grape juice made by Corpozulia.

Granted, Chavez’s motives are largely national; his appeal is grounded in increasing consumption of domestically produced goods and reducing imports of foreign-made products. Nevertheless, the cancer survivor has a history of advocating a healthier lifestyle for his people.

    Lacking presidential leadership-

Often, during what can only be described as marathon speeches, Chavez can be heard urging his countrymen to eat and drink healthier by choosing better foods and avoiding things that can be harmful in excess, like drugs and alcohol, The Associated Press reported.

And when doing so, of course, Venezuelans should be turning to foods and drinks produced at home – which may be a little difficult, considering the South American nation imports most of what its countrymen consume.

What has President Barack Obama said lately about the nation’s collective health- Not much.

Though he was said to have finally quit smoking in 2010, the president doesn’t dispense much advice to the nation about its collective health problems, namely, its ever-expanding waistline.

To be fair, though, that could be because his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, has made the nation’s fitness a priority.

In fact, prior to the start of the Olympic Games, Mrs. Obama – who escorted Team USA to London and attended the opening ceremonies – said the Games were a perfect venue to promote health and fitness.

“Leading our nation’s delegation and traveling to London is truly a dream come true,” she said. “Some of my fondest memories when I was young and not so young involved watching the Olympics on TV and cheering on Team USA.”

With her “Let’s Move” initiative, Mrs. Obama has made combating childhood obesity a priority. The Games present an opportunity to promote that sort of health and fitness, with the nation’s – and the world’s – classiest athletes as her backdrop.

“I decided I wanted to turn that Olympic spirit and inspiration into action by using these games as a way to get more kids up and moving,” she said, declaring July 28 “Let’s Move! Olympic Fun Day,” to encourage children and communities to cheer on Team USA and to participate in a physical activity.

Still, do we want to become ban-happy-

The difference in the first lady’s approach; however, is that it is voluntary. So is Chavez’s approach, insofar as one can resist a dictator. He may decide, at some point, to simply ban the sugary drinks, we’ll have to see.

But others are acting in his stead. Insert one New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg here.

The former Republican-turned-Independent chief executive of the country’s largest city has taken up the “ban this” bandwagon, beginning with – ironically – sugary drinks, proposing in June to ban such drinks larger than 16 ounces in New York City eateries, street carts and stadiums.

Since then, Bloomberg has pressured Obama and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney into taking a stance on new gun bans, following the recent massacre in Aurora, Colo., and in late July proposed new regulations to curb use of baby formula – in lieu of boosting breast feeding – in city hospitals.
